Buttered Rum
Description: Just the ticket to get your inner pirate through another workday, or alternatively a great tea to keep you warm while fighting off the Kraken at sea. Try it with brown sugar and milk, or with a tot of rum!
No one is quite sure who first decided to add butter to a cup of warm rum but were sure glad they did. What is known is that the drink was developed sometime in the 1800s by fishermen somewhere on the Eastern Seaboard. Almost every meal came with a hot cup of buttered rum to wash it down. The drink would warm up the men before they headed above deck to work. The butter added a delicious creamy taste that complemented the sweetness of the liquor wonderfully. It goes without saying that our version, blended here with a good strong Ceylon is the perfect drink to brew when the sky threatens thunder and rain. Serve it nice and hot with a dash of milk to really bring out the creamy sweetness of this great blend.
Serving Suggestion: Carol likes this with milk and one sugar. Steve drinks it black with a half a sugar. For iced drinks either cold brew overnight or brew as for hot but use more tea leaves to make a more intense flavour.
