Deep Sleep Valerian Root Herbal Tea
A good nights sleep is something we take for granted until it eludes us. Tossing and turning at night is frustrating as we know a great day starts with a good nights sleep. Many lifestyle elements can impact our sleep and many of these we have little control over: Stress at work, menopause, young children, ill health or shift work are just some of the common reasons.
Each ingredient in this caffeine free herbal blend is carefully chosen to help you drift off into a deep and relaxing sleep. Including a cup of this tea into your bedtime routine will have you calm and sleepy as you slip between the sheets.
Lemongrass - A 2009 study found that lemongrass tea can help regulate sleep cycles, leading to improved sleep even over longer periods of time. Scientists believe these sleep aids can be attributed to the release of serotonin and sedative effects of the lemongrass plant leaves
Peppermint & Spearmint - Known as a muscle relaxant and good settler of digestive systems.
Chamomile - Chamomile is widely regarded as a mild tranquillizer and sleep-inducer. Sedative effects may be due to the flavonoid, apigenin that binds to benzodiazepine receptors in the brain
Rosehip - Steadies blood sugar and potent against inflammation
Valerian Root - Referred to as “nature’s Valium,” and people have used it since the Middle Ages to treat sleep disorders such as insomnia. What’s more, valerian may help you relax and may have benefits for people who experience anxiety and other symptoms
Hibiscus - The sleep inducing effects of hibiscus are due to its anxiolytic and sedative properties, this reduces feelings of stress and anxiety and lets you drift off into a natural sleep. Also has a positive effect of serotonin and dopamine levels.
Cornflower Petals - Ok, so although there may be some health benefits, we added this ingredient because it looks pretty and we like it.
Serving Suggestion: We recommend drinking 1 - 2 cups 30 - 45 min before bed. Drink warm from your favourite mug. Try incorporating this with other positive bed time routines like reading or listening to soothing music.
For iced drinks either cold brew overnight or brew as for hot but use more tea leaves to make a more intense flavour. Check our guide for more tips on cold brewing tea.
