Earl Grey Green
Description: While Earl Grey Black tea is the namesake of Charles, the 2nd Earl of Grey, Earl Grey Green is named after Sir Albert Henry George, the 4th Earl of Grey who lived between 1851 and 1917. Sir Albert served as Canada's Governor General from 1904 to 1911 and it was during this time that this tea was brewed in his honour. Sir Albert was visiting Newfoundland and was to be served Earl Grey in his honour. Before his arrival, the tea store burned down with all the Earl Grey inside. An enterprising young trader mixed gunpowder tea with bergamot. Breaths were held but Sir Albert particularly liked the way that the sweet bergamot blends with the slightly smoky profile of this green gunpowder tea.
Tastes even better as it comes from plantations monitored by the Ethical Tea Partnership.
Serving Suggestion: Liza enjoys this tea iced with a lemon slice. Adrien drinks it plain.
For iced drinks either cold brew overnight or brew as for hot but use more tea leaves to make a more intense flavour.
