Lavender Tea - Lavandula Angustifolia

Lavender flowers are instantly recognisable by their potent aroma and beautiful colour. It is commonly used in essential oils, perfumes, aromatherapy, traditional herbal medicine and in the kitchen as a culinary herb - great added to cakes! When brewing lavender tea, you're rewarded an intensely aromatic cup and bold lavender taste. This beautifully floral aroma will fill your kitchen. The resulting infusion also takes on a silvery-purple colouration that is very pleasing in a clear, tempered glass.
The use of lavender throughout history is well documented, going as far back as ancient Egypt, where lavender oil played a role in the mummification process.
It is traditionally used to clear the mind, aid in sleep and was sometimes applied to the skin to reduce irritation and even to treat cuts, bruises and bee stings. This is mostly attributed to the flowers antiseptic and mild anaesthetic properties.

Lavender makes a delicious herbal infusion when brewed on its own, or you can try adding it to other herbs and teas to make your own custom blends - as we often do!


Serving Suggestion: Adrian brews his strong and stirs in a dollop of honey. Holly mixes hers with a bit of chamomile for a relaxing night time brew.
For iced drinks either cold brew overnight or brew as for hot but use more tea leaves to make a more intense flavour.
