Russian Caravan
A full-bodied black tea with a smoky malty taste. The essence of a romantic fireside snuggle in a cup. Based on an old Russian formula this is a wonderfully aromatic tea. A luxury blend of black tea with distinct notes of pine and hickory smoke. The leaves are roasted in a bamboo basket called a honglong, which is heated over burning firewood, which contributes to the aroma and smoky flavour. Pinewood is used as the firewood and contains the characteristic resin aroma and taste. When Russia first discovered tea it was shipped on camel back through the cold dry climates of Mongolia and Serbia. The tea would be offloaded each night and kept dry by the fire. Over the months of the journey, this gave the tea a unique smoky flavour imparted from the campfires.
Even better, this tea is ethically sourced!
Serving Suggestion: Holly enjoys this with a touch of honey. Liza likes it plain with a good book. For iced drinks either cold brew overnight or brew as for hot but use more tea leaves to make a more intense flavour.
