Fujian Oolong: 100g
Oolong Tea generally has higher antioxidant levels than standard black teas and is frequently used in Chinese medicine. For weight management, it is recommended to drink three times a day as part of a controlled diet.
In one study, 102 overweight or obese people drank oolong tea every day for six weeks, which may have helped reduce both their body weight and body fat. The researchers proposed the tea did this by improving the metabolism of fat.
In another study 12 men aged 25 to 60 years drank Water, caffeinated water, half strength tea or full strength tea 5 times a day. The caffeinated water was designed to contain the same amount of caffeine as the full-strength tea.It was found that caffeinated water burns more calories than oolong tea. Those who drank full-strength tea burned 2.9% more energy or 67 calories a day. Those who drank caffeinated water burned 3.4% more energy or 79 calories a day. But when it comes to fat burning, oolong tea is better than caffeinated water. Those who drank full-strength tea burned 12% more fat. Those who drank caffeinated water burned 8% more fat.
Researchers concluded that a compound in oolong tea, other than the caffeine, burns fat and increases weight loss.
Yunnan Pu-Erh 100g
Pu-Erh tea is famed for its medicinal properties and its delicious earthy flavour. During the 1200‟s the troops of Kubla Khan are said to have introduced Puerh to the rest of China mostly for its medicinal value. Pu-erh is often taken for relief of indigestion and other tummy troubles but has also been reported very useful in the reduction of cholesterol. A study in Japan showed that all tea lowered cholesterol but pu-erh was more effective than even green tea.Several animal studies that have appeared in peer reviewed journals have shown that pu-erh tea may lower blood sugar and blood triglycerides. In one human study, 70 men were given either a capsule of puerh tea extract or a placebo. After three months, those taking the puerh tea capsule lost approximately 2.2 pounds (1 kg) more than the placebo group.
Unfortunately most studies so far have been conducted on animals, but with all the health benefits we already know about tea combined with the health benefits of the probiotics we know are in Pu-Erh we know we are on to a heath winner.
Spearmint Green 100g
There is a substantial and growing body of evidence for the health benefits of green tea. Green tea has repeatedly been shown to help with the daily calorie battle. In most studies, this amounts to about a 3-4% more calories burned per day, although some studies show an increase as high as 8%. Green tea is high in a type of antioxidants called catechins, and has been associated with weight loss and fat loss. In one study, men who took green tea extract and exercised burned 17% more fat than men who didn’t get the supplement.
